525,000€ for work accident of 24 years’ old

The court awarded an indemnity of €150,000 euros to each of his parents and €75,000 euros to each of his three siblings.  The unfortunate young man worked as a plumber while he was known to the local society of Patras due to his involvement with music and the creation of video clips.

The occupational accident took place on March 8, 2016 when the floor collapsed when operating a jackhammer in the basement of a store.  The labor accident experts had to demonstrate that the necessary security measures had not been taken and that there was a cumulative fault and gross negligence of both the subcontractor and the responsible managers of the commercial and technical companies.

It has been proved that the work declared in the town planning department was described as minor internal repairs or maintenance and not demolitions which would require supervision of an engineer as well as taking the necessary safety measures.

The decision which was issued after two years of litigation included a provisional execution of damages in the amount of € 20,000 for the two parents of the victim and of €10,000 for his three siblings. The two defendants were temporarily detained as a means of executing the court decision to pay part of the litigation costs.
